The objective of this paper is to present the filtration and stress-strain processes modeling during a dam and reservoir construction in a naturally loaded structure, using the finite elements method. The analyzed region was modelled by a 3D finite elements mesh, whereas the real geometry and the disposition of different geological environments were completely respected. The paper presents the developed methodology which gives a very good evaluation of the structure global safety. This methodology also enables a possibility of localization the critical zones for static and filtration stability, as shown in the analysis of the Lopatnica dam in the Serbia. .
